October was always some kind of #Hacktoberfest. Four years ago I joined a hackathon with Shuhong and Tom, where we tried to get any of the provided brain-computer interfaces to work. It was nice that such an event was organized by the @TUM. I guess there is also a really old post about this here on LinkedIn.
Anyway: at that time we spent most of the time configuring and getting familiar with the hardware and the whole workflow, instead of building a final prototype. So around noon on Sunday we decided to capture some “๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ ๐๐๐”. I never got around to processing them and testing them against the idea of controlling ๐๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ง with them. But since I came across this GitHub repo while cleaning up, I thought:
So, here it is. One stream contained ten blink signals (with the eyes), which were recorded by the #OpenBCI Ganglion, the BCI (brain computer interface) board we used at that time.
They are recognizable by a filter: a 0.5โ10 Hz band-pass, averaged over the four channels, then a robust z-score threshold (median/MAD) that picks the big peaks. Then those impulses are used to control Pacman. As you can see, the result is not optimal and not suited to really “play” that one-dimensional game. But it shows the whole end-to-end workflow.
Now updated on GitHub as a repo, with the tooling, the recorded test data and also the end-to-end connection: GitHub -> marcelpetrick -> NTXHackathon22

Yesterday I had some tokens left (#tokenAnxiety) in some subscriptions, so why not revive a classic from the 90s: Lemmings?
Of course, with ๐๐๐๐๐ซ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ง and ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฅ, ๐๐จ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ก for the menu and fitting folkloristic tunes. The remembered game mechanics are the same.
Give it a try (zero cost, no installation, all in the browser):

Keinerlei Sensorik, etc. ๐
Also schnell Ideen fรผr ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐ festgelegt, Niedlichkeitsfaktor (wir brauchen ๐๐๐ญ๐ณ๐๐ง) inklusive, etwas ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐๐ข๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง und ab ging es.
Was haben wir heute mit
I’ve always wanted to have a tool to display all my activity tracks from ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง on a global map. Which allows zooming and panning, selecting different time spans, etc. So, I created it in June. A minimal viable prototype was quickly done. Issues with broken tracks (GPX and the jitters ..) were fixed, and some optimizations to the loading and caching of the ๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ญ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐๐๐ฉ tiles were also done.
But then the ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ซ: it does not scale! I had used some hundred exported tracks initially: loads quite fast and also the mapping to the global coordinates was done within milliseconds. But when I tried to load all of the almost 10k tracks (I have been doing this for almost a decade ..), the app froze!
A classic in software development: it does not scale. What now?
Quite simple: profile a run, determine the bottlenecks and optimize. Of course, part of that can be done in an agentic way. Urging the agents to pre-process all tracks and store them in a more suitable format (QPainterPath) for quick lookup got us halfway there.
So here is version 0.0110 of ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฉ (quite an uncreative name ..) – a ๐๐ฒ๐๐ญ ๐.๐๐ app, with Python 3.14, 11k LoC (4k for the functionality and the rest for tooling & tests), ๐๐% ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐, local and GitHub Actions pipelines, .. you know the drill. You also receive a nice shell script to export your data from Garmin (if you don’t want to request a GDPR export and wait some days).
๐ ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ, nothing is sent to the cloud or leaves your computer.
It really stands on the shoulders of giants: big thanks to the people behind OpenStreetMap and all the frameworks used. It would not be possible to create such a custom project without their work.
PS. to resolve the headline: those are the streets adjacent to the DATA MODUL AG headquarters in Munich/Laim.

Fรผr ein einzelnes Ziel: Sicherstellung guter Noten. (Was ist eigentlich rausgekommen?)
๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐๐ข๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ist definitiv der richtige Ansatz, um die jรผngere Zielgruppe zu interessieren.
Super.

There is a big question: could it be that agentic AI will be the death of collaboration software, or dashboards like #Jira and #GitLab, or even #DevOps, in the sense that nobody needs a ticketing system anymore?
Even when you work professionally with AI, you can move so fast that you can get things analyzed, checked, and also weighed. In terms of: what is the best option? Then you do the implementation, do the vetting of the implementation, and merge it.
So you move so fast that the bureaucratic overhead of maintaining a ticket system, maintaining ticket states, and also creating official merge/pull requests becomes quite drastic.
And letโs put it like this: when you use frontier models, I havenโt seen much of a quality difference. If you have proper instructions and tooling-guardrails, you can also get these things done entirely locally with AI. So there is no need to first send something to some kind of remote repository, then create a merge request or pull request there, do the review by a second person (four eyes ..), have back-and-forth discussions, run the CI, and then merge it.
I mean, even regarding that human review thing, Iโm not sure whether this still fits. The review by a second critical agent can be done locally. Running a pre-push CI should be done locally anyway, because then you also save the time required to execute things remotely and seeing it fail there. Of course, remote CI adds an additional safety layer because things are checked independently and
But I have to say, on private projects, I stopped doing tickets.
Everything can be handled within ๐๐๐ซ๐ค๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ, because then you have one place where everything is ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐๐.
Also I have to say, with agentic AI it comes down to one thing in terms of implementation: is this really something you want to ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ, or do you want to do it in the ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐? โFutureโ means: when there is an opportunity and there is time. No more: is this now important or that? Eversthing important now, the rest later. Capacity scheduling solved.
The thing is: what is your view on that topic?
Thatโs my point of view. Picture totally unrelated and from a lunch-break wall. Enjoy autumn ๐ ๐

This shows a breakdown of the currently ending month of September (in 2026). Which models were used, with vendor and #tokens burned, and an estimate of what this usage would have cost via the API (most of it was covered by subscriptions). As you can see, it is a mix of the top dogs of the Western hemisphere as well as self-hosted #Qwen-based #Ollama runs. Since for self-hosting I could only make up numbers for the dollar value, I kept it with no mapping at all, just show the token usage as number.
The screenshot shows a small part of tokenUsage2 – which is a TUI tool I developed some weeks ago to break down token usage with ad hoc charts. Updated every few milliseconds. Not like the HTML generator I showed some weeks ago. ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฌ are fun – but you also need the ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ to get them done. And some ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ก๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง skill.

Last week I saw here on LI a post by a father where his 9-year-old son created his own Minecraft clone with agentic AI. Even for the love of the gods, I can’t remember who it was. (If someone knows, ping me.)
While reading, I thought: wonder how much the father helped. And Minecraft is so popular. Even with tons of mods, this is a well-documented topic.
Yesterday, between breakfast and getting ready for an excursion, I asked my oldest child if she wants to create her own game and has ideas. Yes… she said… I wasn’t even ready with preparing a repository when she already went on and on and on… and I thought, omg, this will not work out. What have I stirred up?
One hour of chores later, we returned. And it was playable. A friendly, colorful cat adventure. With reward mechanisms. Great :3
My only input was my “dark factory prompt” and that it shall use Babylon.js (good experiences with that for 3D graphics in the browser). The rest was done by a slightly overexcited product manager and AI โข
Outcomes:
* I overestimate my necessary input for agentic AI
* I can’t publish a fully working and polished game, because it is hers
* only our inspiration is the limit
Last week I attended an ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ by Zartis, which brought knowledge about Claude Code and, on the other hand, the chance for networking. My table neighbours and I helped each other with some challenges, and then the question came up: does the /init command actually help? The common understanding, because it is advertised like this: yes. If you have a legacy project and want to give the agent a head start.
I did some checks on available research on the fly. But the outcome was ambiguous.
Therefore, here is now the summary of ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐-๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ: as a 5-page carousel. I’ll add a AI-co-authored, of course, but I spent several sessions checking different angles and the six publicly findable studies.
* no reliable gain!
* it costs more: 20% per task in the ETH Zurich study
* random rules score as well as expert ones: so you don’t need to give someone their comment <– check: commit to get their master claude.md ๐
* rules get followed and named tools are used more often
* writing down the agent’s mistakes worked: especially for smaller (35B) models – self-hosters, listen up
* agents.md/claude.md files only grow, almost never shrink!
And I find this underlines my view.
I personally almost never used the /init command ..

๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ has got the ๐ฐ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ now!
A decade ago whip apps for your favorite smartphone were the hit. Using the acceleration sensor, they played a whipping sound when you made the movement while holding your phone. A team lead at that time jokingly always used it (nobody was harmed …).
Poetic afflatus: why not add this to Agent While True? It is a machine talking to other machines (means: agentic harnesses in some terminals).
And here it is: with a simple press of ๐ you’ll unleash hell.
A selection of twenty comments in the style of ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐/๐๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ๐ are sent via #DBus to the open sessions of #ClaudeCode or #CodexCLI that have work left. And you see a nice cracking animation (#ASCII of course).
๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ซ: just because I have added this fun-feature to the TUI does not mean I endorse questionable motivational methods or intimidation. A workplace, like every professional and human interaction, should be based on respect!
To address the HR-fellows: how do you like that new feature? ๐
